Dear Collector,
Welcome to our catalogue number 91.
As usual we have many new items on offer, within the
Commonwealth section, the early Hong Kong includes the final part of the
collection we started to list last time. The thematic section has over
500 new lots spread throughout the catalogue and a check of the thematic
listing which precedes the listings will provide the detail.. There is a
fair amount of new Canadian material and a good smattering of West
Indies too, which are always popular and including some more difficult
and elusive values prior to our current monarch. Rhodesia is also worth
a look with some nice Double Heads and the early £10 mint with
certificate.
The GB section includes a mint 1840 2d Blue
imperforate, a Penny Black from the scarce plate XI made even more
interesting due its doubled corner letter which aids identification. The
Victorian £1 Orbs is offered in a range of prices and conditions and the
very elusive 2/- Brown is also here. This stamp has the lowest print run
of any Victorian high value with just 77,620 ever issued, compare that
to more than 66 million Penny Blacks and you will see why this stamp is
so difficult in any condition.
Bantam plate 9 is a difficult stamp and in this list
we have a fine used pair, we have not seen a multiple of this stamp for
a long time and it is certainly worthy of a look. The SG398 1d multiple
cypher displaying the correct date of usage is seldom seen and the
booklet SG BB14 which includes a block cypher advert pane is in Post
Office fresh condition and very rare as such with decent perforations on
all panes, they simply do not come any better.
Happy Hunting
